The year ended with an unchanged balance for our $100,000 real money account in November. This could be considered a disappointment, but as we were already at 5% in mid-December, we were very happy with a black zero. We want to show you in our monthly report how this came about.
Real money account December performance
We started December with an account balance of $121,939.19 and stood at $121,994.39 on December 31, which is a percentage gain of 0.05%.
- Simple put butterfly in Russell 2000 (RUT) at $16.00
- Simple put butterfly in Russell 2000 (RUT) at $193.60
- Complex put butterfly in Russell 2000 (RUT) at $1,769.00
- Short put on gasoline (RB) at $198.80
- Simple put butterfly in Russell 2000 (RUT) at $560.00
- Complex put butterfly in Russell 2000 (RUT) at $1,644.40
If we add all the trades together, there is a realized loss of $3,962.60. The real money account balance itself remained unchanged as we have unrealized profits.
December performance in comparison
The following picture shows when we compare our real money account with the known benchmarks:
We are lagging behind the usual benchmarks for the second month in a row. However, this does not give us a headache, because, on the one hand, we know how our losses came about, and on the other hand, the indices have outperformed across the board.
Since the beginning of our real money account, we have been able to keep up with the top performer, S&P 500, although, of course, that is not our aim.
Current positions in our real money account
We currently have these positions open:

You can clearly see that almost all positions in our real money account are in positive territory and lead to a relatively high unrealized P&L of + $6,700.
Yesterday and today are forecasting a downturn in the markets, which will continue to take our real money account significantly higher. This shows how valuable a balanced account can be.
