    The Russian Federation is the world’s largest country by area. Its currency is the Russian ruble (RUB).

    Russia is a large exporter of commodities, especially natural gas, oil and coal. It has the world’s largest natural gas reserves, the 8th largest oil reserves and the second largest coal reserves.

    Its largest trading partners are Germany and China. It also has strong economic ties to other former Soviet republics such as the Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Belarus.

    Brasil, Russia, India and China as a group are often referred to as the BRIC countries.
