The Federal Republic of Germany is a country in central Europe. It is the largest member state of both the European Union and the eurozone.

    Its economy is the largest in Europe and, measured in GDP, the 4th largest worldwide. Germany is the second-largest exporter in the world behind China.

    The German economy is closely connected to its European neighbours, especially with France, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Austria. Other large trading partners include the United States and China.

    The most relevant stock market index is the Deutscher Aktien-Index (DAX), listing companies such as Volkswagen, Siemens, Mercedes-Benz, BMW or Bayer.
