    The Federative Republic of Brazil is a country in South America. Its currency is the Real (R$, BRL), issued by the Banco Central do Brasil.

    Brazil is the 6th largest economy in the world. Its main trading partners are its Latin American neighbours, the European Union and the United States.

    Brazil is a large producer and exporter of commodities such as iron ore, oil, food (sugar, soya beans etc.) and gold.

    Brazil, Russia, India and China as a group are often referred to as the BRIC countries.
