ADP Employment Report (ADP)

    What is the ADP?

The ADP employment or jobs report is provided by an American private company called “ADP”. The figure of the report is calculated by looking at an anonymous, representative subset of the 600,000 U.S. businesses which are customers of ADP. The data represents roughly 24 million employees of the major American private industrial sectors.

Why is the ADP important for traders?

Similar to the US non-farm payroll (NFP), the ADP is an important indicator for the state of the U.S. economy and therefore influences the prices of currencies, stocks and indices, bonds and gold. It is especially important for news trading.

    When is the ADP released?

The ADP is usually published on the Wednesday before the Friday during which US non-farm payroll (NFP) is released. For details, check an economic calendar.
